Family Court Judge Debra Lambert: A Piece of Work
Let's move from the clueless (Fletcher, Pence) to the corrupt (The Lamberts) for a moment.
Today's Danville Advocate-Messenger -- one of the Republicans' favorite newspapers -- comes with this hard-hitting story on the troubled re-election hopes of Family Court Judge Debra Lambert, the wife of Chief Justice Joseph Lambert, and finalist for the Top Illegal Ross Harris Straw Contributor Recipient Award for 2000.
Let me excerpt a bit of the story, but I encourage you to take the time to read the whole thing:
Judge Lambert Has Her Critics And Her Supporters
By TODD KLEFFMAN and KELLY McKINNEY
Danville Advocate-Messenger
...Lambert declined to be interviewed for this story. Initially, she agreed to sit down with a reporter in August at the Lincoln Judicial Center, but on the morning of the scheduled interview, she called to cancel. She said she was disappointed that the reporter had not yet interviewed Lincoln Circuit Court Clerk Teresa Reed and others in the courthouse crowd who, she suggested, would support her as a fair and impartial judge who has the best interests of children and families at heart.
Plus, Lambert said, her busy schedule running for re-election on Nov. 7 against former Pulaski District Judge Walter Maguire would not leave her any time to reschedule the interview.
While Lambert chose not to be interviewed in general about the accusations, state law and judicial ethics prohibit her from commenting specifically about any case over which she has presided.
In phone conversations leading up to the scheduled interview, Lambert expressed concern that she would not be treated fairly by the newspaper and repeatedly suggested she would sue if the story repeated any false allegations against her.
[...]
She seemed put out that The Advocate-Messenger would consider airing the grievances of those critics. She said she didn't understand how anyone could believe the allegations of those people over the word of an educated, professionally trained and elected judge.
[...]
Lambert said she considered suing some of her critics for slandering her but decided against it, suggesting that she had nothing to gain from them because they had little net worth. "You should see the cars some of these people drive," she said.
Like I said, a piece of work...

It's nice to see that staring down your nose at people hasn't gone out of fashion for the Lamberts.
Were this an account found in the Bible I'm sure whe would see the Pharasie Lambert commenting on what a poor and raggedly appearance Jesus had.

Sounds to me more like something that would come out of the mouth of an ignorant hick, which is probably what she is. Well, truthfully, she piggybacked to her position by way of her husband, and he got his start on the road paved by his late father, who so far as I know was a good man.
But that's local politics for you. There's no meritocracy in Kentucky, just a culture based more on pedigree and inheritance. Look into the most influential peoples backgrounds in all these little places in Kentucky and you'll see what I mean.
One person establishes a positon of power and influence, which may or may not be deserved, and it ends up passed down the generations to, in a lot of cases, people that would be better suited filling your gas tank, refilling your coffee at the local diner, or giving you blowjobs to make it till the next welfare check arrives.

Kelly,
Look up the members of Congress and you will see the background of ATTORNEY listed as the profession.
Look at the people with a net worth of one million dollars, you will see that represents a one digit figure for the public but in Congress, if my memory serves me correctly, at least one third of the members of Congress are millionaires.
The observation of "passing on the power" is exactly what has been going on in Washington for many, many years the only difference is the local machines you mention are tied to families. The Congress is tied to lobbyist and ridiculous pork packages delivered to the region. IN essence using our own tax dollars to buy votes.
I still say what politics in this day and age needs is TERM LIMITS.
Term limits will not eliminate it, but it will help some and some help is better than none.

She didn't sue her critics because she's a lawyer, or so I'm told, and knows she couldn't win.
And how does she know what kind of car I drive? I'm one of her critics! Is she stalking me?
She'd be right though, it is a crappy car.
What a snippy little thing she is...hope I never have to appear before her.
Let them eat cornpone!

This is the Judge that gave a child "I raised from *23 MONTHS old* to *8.5 YEARS old* with *NO MONETARY GAIN*, back to the BIO Mother. This bio-m had been in PRISON for *MANSLAUGHTER* and numerous DRUG trafficcing charges..! .!1 or more within 1000 yards of a school...! and her with a child in that School System.! She Killed Her Fiance! ! She was and is STILL ON PAROLE untill 2010. This child did not know this woman! Her family had not wanted to see the child since 1997. Also, SOCIAL SERVICES and A Judge are the People who PLACED HER WITH ME IN 1995...! JUDGE DEBRA LAMBERT AND SOCIAL SERVICES REMOVED HER IN 2004! ! ...

P.S. I was the only caretaker (MOM) and STABLE life the child knew. Plus Lambert's support, Teresa Reed, tried to have *me removed from Courthouse* over Bio-m's boyfriend. I was standing and talking to the GUARDS! They would not do it! I weigh about 140, he weights about 265... The Guards laughed and made JOKES...... Another Elected "BIASED" POLITICIAN!.! Term limits won't work. Who is going to invest twelve years of their life working at a job they know they are going to have to leave afterwards? The only people that would do that are the people that are already just what you are complaining about, people that are already influential and wealthy. Term limits will increase the perentage of millionaires from one third of Congress to two-thirds-or more.
There's no easy answers. But the biggest problem is people are not being educated, or otherwise encouraged, to invest the time or interest in politics, including especially local politics.
As bad as the percentage is of people that vote in national elections, that percntage is actually high compared to the percentage of people that bother to vote in most state or local elections.
People need to start paying attention, and they need to be taught in school more about poltics, government, and most especially, the constitution. Of course, the problem with that is, a thorough education along these lines would go very far toward eliminating the two classes of people who are the career politicans favorites-
The non-voter and the stupid voter.

What an arrogant woman she is. Does she not know that some of the richest people I know drive very old cars. Old money could care less. What is the address of her opponent I am going to send them a contribution to help get her unseated.

Yeah, that's an interesting point - that a family court judge, whose normal daily purview is some of the most deeply felt and personal emotions ever on display in a courtroom, should be so clearly patrician and snobbish in her comments.
PatrickKelley above called her comments those of an "ignorant hick". I'd expand on that thought by saying she sounds like an ignorant hick who's gotten above her raisin' - who thinks she deserves to be MORE than an ignorant hick simply because she is who she is.
I've been around a few family courts, and I'd bet an awful lot of those people driving those crappy cars she so denigrates are the very people she sees in front of her every workday. Too bad for them - based on the tone she strikes in this article, they seem to have the equivalent of a hangin' judge in their family court.
Sue this, yer honor.

And speaking of PatrickKelley (I WISH I could get all the thoughts into the FIRST post) - your 3:54 on why term limits won't work, and esp. your observation on the favorite kinds of voters for most pols, are very well taken.
Despite our leaders' screaming and crying about how important education is, they really prefer us dumbed down - that way we ask fewer questions. The current administrations in Washington and Frankfort are cases in point. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic.

This woman has some serious issues, and based on her conduct with the paper, in my opinion, Debra Lambert wouldn't have the right temperament to be allowed to care for a pet, much less be allowed to make critical domestic issues decisions such as custody.
Very glad that she has an opponent with solid judicial experience.

Tolkien friend you are exactly right she shouldn't even decide the fate of the familys pet much less a child.
Posted by: DOLLFACE | Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 10:47 PM
Rich, you're welcome. Also, wanted to say that your expansion on my point about Lambert's insufferably arrogant comments was exactly what I was getting at. I've known people like this, and in fact was personally familiar with her father-in-law, the late Jimmy Lambert.
He was a good, decent man, however one might agree or not agree with his politics. He was one of those kind of guys that was the same every time you saw him-naturally friendly, not just on election day. It would not be unusual to see him sitting around in downtown Mt. Vernon with the old people, sitting and whittling and passing the time of day.
Most of the politicians I know, if they smile and speak to you, you know it's about two weeks before election day. Two weeks after election day, most of them will be their usual selves, their noses stuck striaght up in the air.
Although I don't know Ms. Lambert, or her husband either, her comments as described above strike me as the typical attitude of a politican from a little town. A hick with an attitude, one that will hopefully be brought down a peg or two this election.
And when I think of how her husband encouraged Fletcher to immdiately implement a law new that would make it illegal for her opponent to collect both his pension and the new judges salary were he to defeat her, that really makes me see red. Originally, the way the law was written, it wouldn't apply to people this election cycle, but Lambert convinced Fletcher to make it retroactive, as a jab at his beloved wifes opponent. As a judge, he had no business being involved in that ine way or anothr to begin with.
The corruption and arrogance of these people knows no bounds.

That is supposed to be a news story?
What's with all the personal observations and opinions?
"She seemed put out..."
Sounds more like an opinion column to me.
And I really don't blame conservative candidates for avoiding the mainstream press.
Posted by: | Friday, September 29, 2006 at 01:11 AM
Another anonymous post that misses the point.
Take note, 1:11am, of Mark's absolutely accurate observation: "Danville Advocate-Messenger -- one of the Republicans' favorite newspapers."
Finally, a paper that is widely known to cater to the electoral needs of one party almost exclusively, after many years of doing so strays off the reservation in this article, and you claim that conservatives should therefore avoid all of them. You don't say "liberal press", but that's certainly your implication.
Does it ever occur to you - even for a minute - that articles unfavorable to people you find worthy of your support might have just a bit of truth to them?
No, I guess not - only the ones who are complicit in swift-boating the bad old Dems are "real newspapers", right?
Posted by: | Friday, September 29, 2006 at 07:33 AM
The 7:39 comment is from me.
And I'm sure the Danville paper will love your considering them part of the "mainstream press" - not many people do.

7:33, not 7:39.

Term limits won't work. Who is going to invest twelve years of their life working at a job they know they are going to have to leave afterwards?
ANSW. A politico that can't make 160 K per year in the private sector.
The only people that would do that are the people that are already just what you are complaining about, people that are already influential and wealthy.
Answ.....It seems to me, this comment is just another status quot for those unwilling to challenge a corrupt system.
Term limits will increase the percentage of millionaires from one third of Congress to two-thirds-or more.
jas I don't know how u cam up with this demographic, but I would venture to say that is a comment with little substance.
What we have today and have been seeing for years, is professional politicians. This group of politico spends hundreds of thousands of dollar per year for a job that pays around 160,000 annually. However, the 160 is not the limit. If audits were possible then you would see many thousands of dollars more from special interest groups. These are the groups with a need for the Congress to be sympathetic to their ideas and needs, in order to hold important high paying positions in the lobby. No results, no more job.
What does it matter how much a Congressman invest in 12 years? It should not matter at all, but it does.
MONEY RULES POLITICS.
Lobby Money
Politicans Money
and
Tax Payer money n the form of many needless pork projects to bullshit the voters back home.
Such simpletons we are.
I can not agree with your comments about Term Limits. These limits are the only way to the slightest chance of "new thinking" that could occur in Washington and in State Houses.
MONEY BUYS political favors. We all know this, but . . . to limit the power of these career politicians, would be in the best interest of our Democracy.
AT least the lobby would have to start over making new contacts with term limits and that would for a time, limit their influence.
The real dig here is TAXPAYER MONEY SUPPORTS THE OVER HEAD OF DEMOCRACY BUT IS THE SPECIAL INTERST THAT RULE OUR COUNTRY.
If you fail to see this, then take a look at what has turn out to be a disaster in the Middle East.
I supposd that is about terrorism? Huh?

If anything term limits would just make things worse. So a career politician makes big bucks from lobbyists. That's not exactly a news flash there, we all assume that, to some degree, the majority of them do. So how is limtiting a poltician to six, eight, or twelve years in office going to prevent this? If anything, they would be encouraged to make as much under the table money as they can while they have the opportunity, and they can still conceivably make deals to keep making money after their term of office expires, by being hired as paid advisors and lobbyists, etc. Just because they can't register as lobbyists for so long after leaving office doesn't mean they can't be de facto unoffical lobbyists with a healthy little offshore bank account.
By the same token, you are also, by implememting term limits, doing away with any incentive they might ordinarily have to work in the best interests of the people they are ostensibly being elected to serve. Why should a Senator or Congressman be obliged to do the right thing, as oppossed to the convenient and/or personally lucrative thing, if he has nothing to gain from it in the way of re-election.
Finally, there is something to be said for rewarding good work, when applicable, to say nothing of experience. I agree Congress needs an infusion of fresh blood on a fairly regular basis, and it is slow to receive that. But there are ways to remedy that besides term limits. Ensuring fairness of press coverage, guaranteeing exposure by way of press, limiting the amunt of money to be spent on television, radio, and newspaper ads that typically work to the advantage of the candidate with the biggest war-chest (usually though not always the incumbent)are just a few ways this can be accomplsihed.
Term limits are like putting a band-aid on a headache. It don't work to begin with, and isn't even applicable or relevant.

For all the disgruntled ones, she does make the OTHERS HAPPY!!! But MOST of the time, THESE OTHERS are Alcoholics, Drug Addicts, Convicted Felons.
All she knows to do is HAVE Social Services
OR A Custodial Evaluation ORRR... HER EVIL
STANDARD VISITATION SCHEDULE!!!
Her billboard saying something about caring for children is A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT!!!!!!!
Nothing could be farther from the truth...
She's TOO BUSY to even take time to have an IN CHAMBERS CONFERENCE with the CHILDREN WHOM ARE AFRAID TO TALK IN FRONT OF ONE (1) PARENT.. That woman HAS DESTROYED TOO MANY FAMILIES!!!! We HOPE and HAVE FAITH that she WILL NOT GET VOTED IN! JUDGE DEBRA LAMBERT sits on her stand ( which she thinks his her throne over the kingdom) and says things like that is detrimental to the child... but actually she is the one that is being detrimental to the child by not taking the time to listen and making decisions that affect the rest of their lives in 3-4 minutes or less.
Posted by: Barbara Vanover | Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 07:03 PM
that comment just comes to show what kind of a person lambert really is. maybe if we sat around all day taking children away from perfectly loving homes and placing them only god knows where for money, maybe we would all be driving nice cars. she is a heartless woman and she causes so many people pain. i know this because i am one of the many children who she took and placed with total strangers for no logical reason. she has ruined two years of my life and has caused me to be exposed to so much filth and abuse. lets pray noone will suffer again because of this woman. do it for the children.

maybe no other helpless child will get lost in the system and taken away from the only people who truly care. she should not be allowed to get awaywith this

Thank goodness that the evil Mrs. Lambert was voted off of her throne last November. Her reign of destroying families and traumatizing children is finally over! Her husband protected her as long as he could, but he couldn't protect her from the power of the people. I hope that she spends her time off reflecting on the man wrongs she did to my family and others.
